Vahid Zamani
Vahid Zamani completed a Master of Science in Civil (Cross-disciplinary) Engineering at the University of Alberta in 2023, co-supervised by Dr. Yuxiang Chen and Dr. Yong Li. His thesis developed a practical method for estimating the parameters and unmeasured inputs of resistor-capacitor (RC) thermal models of buildings, combining an unscented Kalman filter with nonlinear least square estimation.
He extended the same method to estimate the heating and cooling supply needed to control zone temperatures, testing it on both simulated data and measured data from a single detached house.
