Trong Nghia Phung

Trong Nghia Phung is an MSc student in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. Nghia’s research focuses on the design, sizing, and operation of natural-gas micro-combined heat and power (mCHP) systems for multi-unit residential and mixed-use buildings in cold climates.

The work combines in-situ monitoring, building energy simulation, and system-level analysis to evaluate mCHP, thermal energy storage, domestic hot water, and backup heating system configurations, with the aim of developing practical, generalizable guidelines for the design and operation of these systems.

Nghia holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta, with a background in energy systems, thermofluids, and building mechanical systems.
